Recent developments in the US have raised serious concerns about the erosion of academic freedoms, as well as the vulnerability of students and researchers from international or marginalized communities.
At the Emotional Cognition Lab, we are committed to open inquiry and collaboration. We thus want to express our full support for colleagues who may be feeling uncertain or isolated during this time. Science thrives not in isolation, but in environments that value openness, mutual respect, and the freedom to think and speak critically.
We share and support the message of Neuroscientists Against Fascism: a reminder that our community stands for democratic principles and against the use of political power to undermine academic institutions.
We encourage thoughtful reflection on how we can uphold these values in our own work, and how we can stand in solidarity with those whose academic freedom is under threat.
